Meet Lovely & Neethu
The Good Food Gurus Rewriting the Rules of Nutrition
If you’ve ever disappeared down a Google rabbit hole searching for answers about healthy eating, you’ve already encountered the problem that Good Food Guru set out to solve.
Nutrition shouldn’t be confusing.
For Lovely and Neethu — two nutrition educators, mothers, lifelong learners, and enthusiastic lovers of good food — that simple belief became the foundation of something much bigger. And yes, their definition of good food includes everything from rice, thoran and fish curry to global cuisines
Good Food Guru grew out of conversations about food, work, life, family, and a shared determination to challenge what they affectionately call “nutri-nonsense.”
At its heart, Good Food Guru believes that nutrition is both a basic necessity and a basic right. Their approach is rooted in gentle nutrition — a way of thinking about food without rigid rules, food policing, or shame.
There are no “good foods” and “bad foods.”
Instead, the goal is to help people understand food a little better, trust themselves a little more, and rediscover the joy of eating without fear.
Q. Every Female Founder Has a Turning Point. What Was Yours?
Good Food Guru didn’t begin with a business plan.
It began with a feeling.
The pandemic changed many things for all of us. For Lovely and Neethu, it also created space to pause and ask a powerful question:
“Is there something more meaningful we could be doing?”
Lovely, the meticulous planner, and Neethu, the self-confessed “go-with-the-flow” person, discovered that despite living in different parts of the world, they were being drawn toward the same purpose.
Conversations became ideas.
Ideas became plans.
Plans became late-night discussions.
And eventually, those discussions became Good Food Guru.
Sometimes, the universe really does have a wonderful way of introducing you to the people you’re meant to build with.
Q. When Someone Discovers Good Food Guru for the First Time, How Do You Hope They Feel?
Relieved.
That’s the first word that comes to mind.
We hope people feel as though they’ve finally found a place where food isn’t something to fear.
There are no impossible rules here. No guilt, shame, or lectures.
Just evidence-based information, practical advice, and a gentle reminder that food is meant to nourish us, connect us, and bring us joy.
If Good Food Guru were a person, she would be that wise friend who reminds you that it’s perfectly okay to enjoy dessert, celebrate traditions, and still care deeply about your health.
Q. The First Steps: Listening Before Building
The first practical step wasn’t launching a program or building a brand.
It was listening.
As nutrition professionals, Lovely and Neethu realized that focusing solely on individuals wasn’t enough. If they wanted to create meaningful change, they needed to look at the larger ecosystem surrounding food.
Through their professional experience, they saw an important gap.
Many chefs were trained to prioritise taste but often had limited exposure to nutrition science. At the same time, nutrition professionals were navigating an increasingly overwhelming landscape of misinformation.
The opportunity was clear: bridge the gap between food and nutrition.
Together, Lovely and Neethu brought more than 35 years of combined experience across healthcare, hospitality, corporate wellness, academia, policy development, and consultancy.
Years of learning, unlearning, questioning, and experimenting eventually came together in their flagship programme:
“What to Eat, How Much to Eat and How to Do It Right.”
It is an extension of what Good Food Guru has always stood for — making nutrition practical, accessible, evidence-based, and, importantly, human.
Her Playbook:
Q. What Do You Wish You Had Known Earlier?
Their advice is simple, but powerful.
There is no perfect time to begin. Start anyway.
Your values will become your compass, so protect them fiercely.
And remember that growth isn’t always loud.
Sometimes growth looks like one message from a community member saying:
“You’ve changed the way I think about food.”
Those moments, they say, are worth everything.
And one more thing?
A little humour helps. A lot.
Because building something meaningful doesn’t mean taking yourself too seriously every step of the way.

Mindset & Sisterhood:
Q. Building Together Through the Hard Days
For Lovely and Neethu, their partnership is grounded in something that existed long before Good Food Guru.
Before they were founders, they were simply two women who cared deeply about people and the relationship they have with food.
They also recognise that they are more than nutritionists.
They’re mothers, daughters, sisters, friends — and, above all, women trying to balance ambition, responsibility, and purpose while remembering to care for themselves along the way.
When things become difficult, they return to their “why.”
That simple practice has a way of bringing everything back into perspective.
Because resilience isn’t about never struggling.
Sometimes it’s about remembering why you started.

Community Impact:
Q. How can you inspire the readers, Where Should People Begin?
Start with curiosity.
Challenge long-held beliefs. Ask questions. Be willing to unlearn.
Join the Good Food Guru conversations, explore their resources, and discover their flagship programme.
Most importantly, remember this:
Healthy eating doesn’t have to feel complicated.
Good Food Guru wants people to move away from fear and toward confidence.
Toward balance.
Toward flexibility.
And ultimately, toward joy.
Their mission isn’t to tell people exactly what they should eat every day. It’s to give people the knowledge and confidence to make choices that work for their own lives.
The HERSTORY Takeaway:
Q. What Would You Tell Someone Holding on to a Dream?
Take one small step. Right now.
The truth is, most dreams don’t begin with a grand announcement.
They begin quietly.
With a notebook.
A conversation.
An idea scribbled onto a piece of paper.
Or a message sent at midnight.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin.
Trust yourself enough to take the first step.
You never know where that one small step might lead.

Good food can nourish us.
But it can also bring us together, connect us to our culture and communities, and remind us that health doesn’t have to exist at the expense of pleasure.
For Lovely and Neethu, that is the heart of Good Food Guru: less fear, less food noise, and more knowledge, confidence, connection, and joy.
And perhaps that’s a philosophy worth bringing to every table.
