When Idea Met Fruition: Saying No to the Rat Race

  1. When and why did you start C’s The World? (Any special date or story behind starting)

The idea for building a database of interesting geography facts and a compilation of important country facts is something that has been brewing in me since the 2020 lockdown. I started C’s the World with 3 simple goals close to my heart:

  1. Fuel Brainpower: Whether you are a kid or an adult, you’ll finish every game with more knowledge about the world.
  2. Digital Detox: Face to face games mean well rested eyes. A great way to keep you away from screens, and of course—kids too.
  3. Heart of the Deal: Every purchase makes a difference. 10% of our profits are donated to charities supporting children.
  1. What made you think, ā€œI should do thisā€?

While I was in the nascent stage of curating content and designing a webpage to showcase country info, the information for every country quite naturally fit into the shape of a card. And by the time I had finished, I had surprised myself with the kind of rich content every country held, it felt like I had something I could present to the rest of the world. As you know, C’s the World is a FUN box containing 5 geography-based games. TBH, it started out as a set of trump cards. It was only later that I formulated it into a game and this came quite effortlessly. While I was playing around with my first set of cards, an idea for a game popped up, and then another one—and so on. Then, I presented the idea to my brother, who is also an avid gamer. The main game, C’s the World, is entirely my brother’s brainchild. His name is Babith Thekkan, he has a comic page up on Insta by the name Shots fired.

  1. What does ā€œC’s The Worldā€ mean to you? (Is there a story behind the name?)

That would be an emphatic YES! According to me, everything lies in the name. The FUN box contains a total of 197 cards—one for every country of the world. With information categorised into Country, Capital, Citizen, Coordinates, Communication, Currency, Code, Cool facts and Camera capture—it’s all about the different C’s of the World. The catchy bit being that it’s a pun on the phrase ā€œseize the worldā€.

Your Journey (Answer the below questions or write about your journey in short)

  1. What was the first step you took to start?

My everyday mission has been to take it one day at a time. The first step was to curate the content. C’s the World, what it is today is a result of years of research and designing—back & forth sampling and doing uncountable brainstorming sessions on how to play the different games.

  1. What felt scary in the beginning?

There was always a fear if people would find value in C’s the World. My main goal has been for people to have a lot of fun playing the games all the while learning about different facts. The very first customer feedback that I received and the overwhelming reviews have now thankfully put all that to rest.

  1. What has been the hardest part so far?

Everyone is so busy running a rat race these days. Getting people to simply sit down and relax without their screens, and to simply take time off screens has been the biggest challenge. I still have friends who have bought the game and weeks later who have not even opened the box—simply because life keeps taking over. This is scary and sad at the same time because you also see it happening right in front of your eyes, even in your own homes.

  1. What are you still figuring out?

I live in Munich with my husband and we have a 1 year old daughter. I am constantly trying to figure out how to be a better mom all the while running C’s the World. Being an entrepreneur is very time demanding and no matter how much support you have, being a mom means feeling guilty even when you work.

More Than Trump Cards: A World Without Screens

  1. What are you currently offering? (Product/service—explain simply)

C’s the World is a series of five geography based card games in one FUN box, containing a total of 197 cards—one for every country of the world. C’s the World and Challenger are our flagship games.​ In addition, you can also play variations of your other favourite card games with a fun Country twist: Capital Gains (Country Poker), Capitalla (Country Rummy), and Colour Colour (Country Uno), etc.​

  1. Who is it for? (Your target audience)

C’s the World is made for kids above the age of 7 but to be honest, it’s more addictive to adults. I also have some of my friends’ kids as young as 4 years old playing an easier version of one of the games.

  1. What problem does your product solve or how does it help people?

Screen addition! C’s the World is designed to keep you on your toes and off your screens.

11. What makes your product fun, unique, or different?

One of our main USP is that the content on the cards is SO FUN you won’t even need a second player—just keep cruising through the Cool Facts section and get ready to tumble down a rabbit hole of awesome world discoveries. This is what makes C’s the World stand out the most.

  • Every game of C’s the World will make you walk out smarter knowing a little more about the world we live in.
  • It is a great way to connect with your dear ones by giving yourself a much needed digital detox
  • Children have been at the heart of the deal for me. Through C’s the World, we are also giving back to the community in every way we can.

  1. What have customers said about it so far?

R1. What lovely packaging! Such a cool game to introduce GK in an ultra fun way to kids (and adults).

R2. This was such a refresher. My kids were so curious. And determined. They didn’t want to stop.

R6. It was so good ! In fact it was better than I expected with my kids. Cos I thought my 8yo would not get it but he was picking up and so competitive. We were trying to give easy hints to him. And he could give us codes, man. I was trying to not make him loose and it was 2.5 hrs I had to stop them.

R7. We had so much fun playing this game.Ā Kids spent hours seizing the world ! and wanting to play it often . Such a fun way to occupy them, equally enjoyed by the adults as well. What a smart creation!

R8. My niece and I have been playing this every chance we get and we both love it.Ā Since my niece is 6, playing it this way has been an easy introduction to geography for her. Apart from that, l’ve always found the cards themselves (and the box) to be of high quality, especially when playing with kids. The facts are interesting and well researched and I’m learning quite a bit too.

R9. The cards are soooo stunning and interesting! I’ve been reading them all afternoon. I haven’t found a companion to play with yet, maybe in the weekend once everyone is a little more free!
